Our compatible Ricoh GC-41 refillable ink cartridge set comes empty and permits you to replace the Ricoh original GC-41 cartridges with a durable alternative that can be refilled again and again.

Ideal for sublimation applications the GC-41 refillables reset automatically without the need of a chip resetter.

What is a refillable cartridge (RIC)?

A refillable cartridge (RIC) is a dummy cartridge that is capable of being filled with an ink of the user’s choice.
It functions in exactly the same way as a normal cartridge, but when the printer flags it as empty you can remove the cartridge, top it up with ink and put it back into the printer.
After doing this the printer will display the cartridge as full and allow you to start printing again, therefore creating an environmentally friendly alternative.

How does it work?

A regular cartridge is fitted with a single use chip that records how much of its ink has been used by the printer.
Once the chip reads as empty the printer expects a new cartridge and won’t function again until it receives one.

A RIC is fitted with an auto rest chip (ARC) that uses a special algorithm to fool the printer into thinking it is getting a new cartridge.
Once the cartridge is flagged as empty disconnecting the cartridge chip from the printer resets the capacity back to full.
You would then fill the cartridge with ink.
When the cartridge is put back into the printer it will show as 100% full again.

Does it work with Sawgrass Virtuoso Print Manager (VPM)?

Yes and No. It is important to note that the latest version of VPM has an update that is designed to stop the use of alternative or 3rd party inks or ink cartridges. When alternative ink cartridges are installed and used when printing from VPM the software prints a hatch or cross across the full page rendering it unusable.

Whilst older version of VPM can still be used it is difficult to back date once an update has occurred.

Overcoming this problem is simple, use an alternative image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, GIMP Design or Serif Affinity Designer to name but a few. These software work without issue with any Sawgrass printer using none genuine ink cartridges. Additionally our ICC profile can be used with all of these software for greater colour control.
